ACM SIGMOD 2021 New Researcher Symposium
Every year, the SIGMOD Conference includes a symposium with advice on starting a career in data management. These symposia are both informative and entertaining; they are geared towards graduate students and junior researchers but they often attract a broader audience.
This year's SIGMOD New Researcher Symposium is on "Cross-Disciplinary Research". We have put together two exciting panel with diverse viewpoints and perspectives on how to effectively engage in such research.
Panel A - June 23, 15:00-16:30 Beijing Time
Ioana Manolescu - INRIA Saclay and LIX/Ecole Polytechnique
Mourad Ouzzani - QCRI
Paolo Pappoti - Eurecom
Panel B - June 24, 03:00-4:30 Beijing Time
Marti Hearst - UC Berkeley, School of Information
Julia Stoyanovich - New York University
Alex Ratner - University of Washington
NRS this year will be held virtually in two sessions (with different panelists in each one) to enable as many participants from different time zones around the world to attend. The panel moderators are:
Azza Abouzied - NYU Abu Dhabi
Leilani Battle - UMD
The panel will begin by each panelist presenting their perspective and thoughts on how to go about such research, followed by a moderated Q&A and then an open-forum for the audience to ask their questions.
